How to reach Kedarkantha

DAY 1- For reaching Kedarkantha Trek you have to go to the Quaint village of Sankri which is located 200 km away from Dehradun. You can reach here via bus or taxi from Dheradhun

From Dehradun you can get direct buses to Sankri from the bus station which is near to the railway station of Dehradun. The buses get ready to go early in the morning from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. and it takes around 10 to11 hours to reach Sankri.

In case if you will miss the morning buses then you can take a bus which goes via Mussoorie which is near to Dehradun and get down at Mori. 

Note: If you are not willing to go by bus, you can book a cab, taxi, tempo and bolero to reach Sankri according to your budget. 

There are many modes of transportation available to reach Dehradun: 

By road- Dehradun is well connected to most of the important cities of Northern India. There are many bus services available from Delhi to Dehradun. Most of the people come to Dehradun from Delhi to start their journey of kedarkantha trek. Dehradun is well connected with Delhi by the buses on a regular basis from Kashmiri Gate. 

By rail- Dehradun railway station is well connected with the major cities of India like Delhi, Kolkata, Lucknow etc. 

By air- In Dehradun there is only one airport namely Jolly Grant Airport with a daily connection with New Delhi and other major cities of India as well.

 After reaching Sankri, you can start your trek to Kedarnath the next morning.

It is recommended that you hire a local trek guide because it is a very important and mandatory rule enforced by the authorities of Govind Vihar National Park.

DAY 2- From Sankri you have to go to the Juda-ka-Talab after having breakfast. It will take only 2-2.5 hours for you to reach Juda-ka-Talab. Most probably you will reach there at night. So take a stay in Tents. 

DAY 3- Next day in the morning Witness the mesmerizing view of snow capped peaks. After watching this Scenic view you have to start your tracking, you have to reach the kedarkantha base and it will take around 4 hours. Spend your night here.

DAY 4- On this day you have to continue your track to the hargaon which is 9700 feet. 

Hargaon is 7 km away from kedarkantha base, so it will take around 6 hour to reach. After reaching hargaon you can spend your night in the tents.

DAY 5- Next morning go back to Sankari, stay there, walk around the sankri village and next day go back to Dehradun. 

The summit climb of Kedarkantha is a popular destination. Right from the base camp of the trek, the summit rises. 

The climb is not that easy. The entire stretch is frimley steep. As you will get close to the summit, it gets tricky and risky as well. But the huge mountains of the upper Himalayas keep you company until you finally reach to your destination that is Summit.
